Mindy VanBerkel (She/her)
I am passionate about empowering clients through gentle nutrition. My approach is collaborative—I work alongside my clients to help them assess their needs and develop a plan that feels achievable. I also believe in approaching nutrition care by considering the client as a whole and emphasize sustainable lifestyle changes rather than quick fixes. To make nutrition education more engaging, I use creative techniques like metaphors and visual comparisons. Together, we create a framework to maintain progress through gentle guidance, coaching, and counseling. My methods draw from cognitive behavioral theory, Intuitive Eating, motivational interviewing, and SMART goal setting.
My experience as a dietitian is shaped by roles at Brigham and Women’s Hospital working with heart transplant and cancer patients, at Coram Pharmacy managing home intravenous nutrition, and at Nutrimedy providing nutrition counseling. I hold a Master of Science in Nutrition from Boston University and certifications in Nutrition Support, Nutrition Counseling, Fertility, and Pregnancy. My clinical experience has deepened my commitment to anti-diet, weight-inclusive care and the importance of supporting clients in nourishing their bodies.
To me, food represents memories and offers a way to connect, enriching the meaning of our lives. It is deeply personal, which is why I approach each individual as unique, without assumptions. By creating a safe space, I empower my clients to write their own narrative around health and wellness and join them on that transformative journey.
